The Young Punx, Amanda Palmer & Peaches – Map of Tasmania

Posted in caught by juliobesq on February 7, 2011

The normally proportioned Amanda Palmer and DJs The Young Punx have remixed their anthem to pubic hair adding a rap by the incorrigible Peaches. Anyone find the current trend for removing all pubic hair vaguely sinister? Like the Disney-esque exploitation of big eyes.

Pubes or not is a choice, but the pressure through comments online and in the media branding muff as unsightly, unfeminine is… bizarre. Its dissemination from porn to mainstream culture is documented, but it is also prevalent in fetish imagery where it denotes a master:slave relationship, and one that visually resembles adult:child. Depilation isn’t new, one could find a correlation between the rise of monotheistic religion and the disappearance of women’s pubes, at least in art. With beards on men encouraged. Draw your own conclusions.

Soft and sweet and shaped like a triangle
Some girls want no shape and they shave it all
That’s so whack, it hurts with the stubble
Walking ’round and look like an eight-year-old
Soft and sweet and shaped like a triangle
Some girls want no shape and they shave it all
That’s so whack, it hurts with the stubble
Walking ’round and look like an eight-year-old

I say grow that shit like a jungle
Give ‘em something strong to hold onto
Let it fly in the open wind
If it get too bushy, you can trim
